Movie superstar GEORGE CLOONEY was surprised when an elderly woman asked him what he did for a living - but told her he's a "struggling actor".

The INTOLERABLE CRUELTY actor, who earned $20 million (GBP11 million) for OCEAN'S ELEVEN was introduced to THE HOURS director STEPHEN DALDRY's mother, who didn't recognise the international celebrity.

She asked Clooney, "Are you in the same business as my son?"

And when the 42-year-old star explained he's an actor she asked, "Have you been in anything I might have seen?"
