PHIL SPECTOR - CLARKSON'S MUM BEGS SPECTOR TO TELL THE TRUTH

Slain actress LANA CLARKSON's mother DONNA has broken her silence to beg music producer PHIL SPECTOR to tell the truth when he stands trial for her daughter's murder later this year (05).

The fallen B-movie star was found dead of a single gunshot wound at Spector's Hollywood home in February 2003, and her mother refuses to believe the music mogul's story that her daughter shot herself.

A tearful Donna Clarkson appealed to Spector, who stands accused of the murder, to "save his soul" at the upcoming trial when she appeared on US news show PRIMETIME LIVE last night (27JAN05).

She said, "I want to have a fair trial... I'd like Mr Spector to tell the truth. I'd like him to tell everyone what happened.

"His life is in the balance and I would pray for him. It's hard to say that, but I do. I pray for him that he can tell the truth and save his own soul."

Clarkson's mother also revealed that she's still "in denial" about her 40-year-old daughter's death two years ago - and refuses to cancel the late actress' cellphone account.

She added, "I feel like she's gonna come in the door any minute; she's just travelling.

"I haven't been able to turn her cellphone off. All of her friends still call and listen to her message."
