PRETENDERS - CHRISSIE HYNDE REGRETS HER WILD PAST

PRETENDERS frontwoman CHRISSIE HYNDE may still be the embodiment of rock'n'roll cool - but she regrets her previous excesses.

The BRASS IN POCKET singer has been leading the band for 25 years and shows no sign of letting up yet, although she admits that her past behaviour is catching up with her body.

She laments, "Frankly, I regret every pill I've ever taken, every glass of wine I've drunk, every joint, every fag. It's crazy when you're young. You just burn through the pain barrier, hit my age and think, 'S***, I'm f***ing exhausted.'

"Sometimes I think it's pretty amazing that I'm still knocking around. But I've got to keep going. I'm a band leader. I can take people to glory and that's a remarkable feeling."
