Actor DAVID HASSELHOFF fears he would still be an alcoholic if he hadn't won the role in London's hit musical CHICAGO.
The former BAYWATCH star voluntarily checked into a in rehab to help kick his drink problem after being caught drink-driving last July (04).
But the 52-year-old actor - who starred as scheming lawyer BILLY FLYNN in the West End musical last year (04) - claims it was the excitement of performing in front of a live audience which helped him overcome his personal problems for good.
He says, "Chicago totally pulled me out of that spell.
"It was a small blip, but I'm grateful for that.
"It made me realise how much I've got."
