RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN - CHAMBERLAIN FELL FOR PAUL NEWMAN

Recently outed gay actor RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN fancied fellow screen star PAUL NEWMAN, and he could hardly keep his hands off him on the set of TOWERING INFERNO.

Chamberlain insists he never allowed his homosexuality to interfere with his work, but was tempted by Newman on the set of the cult 1974 disaster movie.

THE THORN BIRDS star says, "I was very intimidated. We had a scene together and I regret that I didn't stay on the money.

"I should have played that scene much more forcefully, but I was really scared of Paul. Put it this way, if he had invited me home, I would have gone."

Chamberlain outed himself earlier this year (03) in his memoirs.
