JOHNNY CASH - CASH UP FOR THREE MOJO AWARDS

NEWS BY ARTIST ALPHABETICALLY

Late country legend JOHNNY CASH has been nominated for three posthumous Mojo Awards. The singer, who died two years ago, is nominated for the Icon Award and Inspiration Award, while a box-set of his recordings has been given a nod for Best Catalogue Release. Cash will contest the Icon Award with NEIL YOUNG, VAN MORRISON, SCOTT WALKER and DAVID BOWIE and the Inspiration Award with PAUL WELLER, THE FALL, BUZZCOCKS and SPARKS. The awards are handed out by British music magazine Mojo. Mojo editor-in-chief PHIL ALEXANDER explains Cash's inclusion, "It is not about the biggest names or the hottest acts. "The event was created to recognise those artists that have enriched our rich musical culture and that's what it continues to do." The ceremony will take place in London on 5 June (06).
