BACKSTREET BOY NICK CARTER refuses to accept his solo career was a failure.

Carter's own chart campaign failed to emulate the success of rival boyband star JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, who achieved global fame when he worked away from 'N SYNC, but he is glad he tried out on his own and learned much.

The 25-year-old says, "The solo career was something I wanted to try and I did it. To be honest, it was pretty lonely and I really missed the guys. But it was still a great experience for me."
