TRAINSPOTTING - CARLYLE: '9/11 PROMPTED MOVIE INDUSTRY DECLINE'

NEWS BY ARTIST ALPHABETICALLY

TRAINSPOTTING star ROBERT CARLYLE has blamed the September 11 (01) terrorist attacks for the decline of the movie industry - because studios are now afraid to make controversial films.

The Scottish actor claims movie bosses are reluctant to invest in films which might distress audiences, because the al-Qaeda attacks on New York City and Washington DC have made audiences more sensitive to risque movie plots.

He complains, "We have relegated ourselves to the film backwater. Since September 11, people have been more and more reluctant to fund anything that will upset anybody.

"The films that I like aren't getting made. I don't think Trainspotting would get made today. No f**king chance."
