Pop beauty MARIAH CAREY was amazed by the way young soul star JOSS STONE confidently mixed with global superstars backstage at last week's (02JUL05) Live 8 gig in London.
The HONEY singer recalled when she was the same stage as 18-year-old Stone, it was a different story, as she couldn't even get close to her idols.
She says, "I was struck how she was mingling with all the other singers.
"When I started out, the same age as her, I never got to meet any famous artists.
"I wasn't allowed to. It was bleak."
