GARY BUSEY - BUSEY JAILED FOR BEING LATE

Actor GARY BUSEY spent Monday morning (20SEP04) in jail when an annoyed judge decided to teach him a lesson for turning up to a court date late.

The BIG WEDNESDAY star turned up 90 minutes late to a spousal support hearing, and was met by police officers who arrested him and then jailed him for two hours while his $25,000 (GBP13,800) bail was processed.

Busey's attorney VICKY ROBERTS tells American scandal show CELEBRITY JUSTICE, "I've been practicing law for 21 years and I have never seen anyone arrested for appearing 40 minutes late to a court hearing.

"Mr Busey didn't appear once before in this courtroom because he was filming a movie in Bulgaria, and the court had issued a bench warrant. I think that's why the court was so harsh this time."

The actor was due in court to fight his first wife JUDY, who claims Busey owes her more than $1.5 million (GBP833,000) in back spousal support.
