LATEST: Eighties pop star PETE BURNS is reeling after British police confiscated his alleged gorilla fur coat.

The DEAD OR ALIVE singer, 46, is a contestant on Channel 4 reality TV show CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER, where housemates are cut off from the outside world.

Officers from the Hertfordshire Constabulary seized the coat today (19JAN06) after a government minister warned the star could face jail if the garment turns out to be made from an endangered species.

Burns bragged about the coat during a vicious exchange with former contestant JODIE MARSH. When she complained it offended her, he replied, "That thrills me.

"I wish I had a sable coat and a chinchilla dressing gown and every other fur I could lay my hands on."
