Oscar winner ADRIEN BRODY had no problem pretending to be terrified during a computer-generated insect infestation scene in KING KONG - he just recalled a scary meeting with a poisonous spider on the set of THE THIN RED LINE.

The actor walked into a web during a jungle scene in the 1998 war movie and was horrified when a giant poisonous spider rested on his shoulder.

He used those memories for a King Kong scene in which his character had to battle imaginary giant creepy crawlies.

He explains, "When I did The Thin Red Line we were out in the jungle in northern Australia doing boot camp and I walked through a web that was something straight out of this movie.

"I freaked out and screamed, 'Is something on me?' I was wearing a tank top and I looked at my bare shoulder and there was a green spider the size of a bread plate. It was humongous with a torso that was longer than my thumb and yellow knee caps.

"I swatted it off me and it was horrifying. I was with 30 of the other guys who were just as freaked out as I was watching it crawling on the ground.

"There were poisonous spiders under where we were sleeping. You can draw from those things to imagine the sense of size and scale of the crickets that are about to eat you in this film."
