THE LORD OF THE RINGS actor BILLY BOYD loved wearing women's underwear on the set of his forthcoming film ON A CLEAR DAY - but was devastated his bottom wasn't firm enough for a G-string.

The Scottish star plays a character who is so poor he is forced to wear his girlfriend's knickers, and he admits he enjoyed sporting the feminine frillies, even if he had to abandon hope of donning a thong.

He says, "I quite got into it. It makes you feel you've got a wee secret.

"Originally it was supposed to be a G-string but my bottom wasn't perfect."
