U2 singer BONO has warned Americans they will face a fresh wave of terrorist attacks if they do not help combat poverty and AIDS in Africa.

The campaigning rocker addressed graduates at the UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA yesterday (17MAY04), and told them it makes more financial sense to tackle the continent's financial and health problems, rather than face the results of resentment towards their country.

He said, "It's cheaper than fighting wave after wave of the terrorists' new recruits. Your pockets are full and now you have got to figure out what to spend it on. If you are going to live up to your ideals and your education, it's going to cost you.

"For the first time in history we have the cash and the technological know-how" to solve Africa's problems. But do we have the will?"
