Rocker RAY DAVIES insisted his ex-wife CHRISSIE HYNDE was among those paying tribute to his group THE KINKS at their UK Music Hall of Fame induction - but refused to speak to her.

The quirky COME DANCING singer invited a shocked Hynde and her group THE PRETENDERS to perform WATERLOO SUNSET at the London event last November (05) - despite a 20 year silence between the pair.

And he didn't approach her at the event either.

He recalls, "I always thought The Pretenders did good covers of Kinks songs, and we suggested them, and they graciously accepted.

"I arrived just before (the event), left immediately afterward."

Hynde and Davies famously split in 1983 after The Pretenders singer ran off with SIMPLE MINDS frontman JIM KERR during an Australian tour.
