One-time blacklisted actress BETTY GARRETT has been given one of Tinseltown's ultimate honours - a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Garrett was joined by friends including brothers JEFF and BEAU BRIDGES to celebrate her name being added to one of the world's most famous sidewalks. The event on Friday marked her 84th birthday (23MAY03).
The actress appeared in the sitcoms ALL IN THE FAMILY and LAVERNE + SHIRLEY, as well as co-starring with FRANK SINATRA in the 1949 films TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME and ON THE TOWN.
Garrett and her late husband LARRY PARKS were both blacklisted during the MCCARTHY era for their socialist leanings.
The actress returned to work in 1955 in MY SISTER EILEEN alongside JACK LEMMON and JANET LEIGH.
