PAUL BETTANY disappointed his wife JENNIFER CONNOLLY by bulking up for new film THE DA VINCI CODE - because she liked him better as a pale, skinny Englishman. The actor, who plays evil monk SILAS in director RON HOWARD's movie, quit his vices and hit the gym in an effort to transform his body. But Oscar-winner Connelly didn't like the new, hard-bodied Bettany. He says, "I was the strongest I've ever been. "I think she was a bit sad about it. Because when we got married, she bought this very, very skinny, pale Englishman who drank and smoked, and now I do none of those things."
