There were mixed emotions for DAVID BECKHAM at last night's (16JUL03) ESPY AWARDS in Hollywood - RONALDO took home the Best Soccer Player prize, but the British sports hero's tribute movie won the Best Sports Movie award.

BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM beat LIKE MIKE and POOLHALL JUNKIES among other American TV films to claim the top honour.

Other big winners at the 11th annual American sports awards at the KODAK THEATRE included ANDRE AGASSI (Best Male Tennis Player), TIGER WOODS (Best Male Golfer), ANNIKA SORENSTAM (Best Female Golfer), SERENA WILLIAMS (Best Female Athlete) and cyclist LANCE ARMSTRONG (Best Male Athlete), whose award was accepted by pal ROBIN WILLIAMS.

Host JAMIE FOXX stole the show when he dedicated a song, CAN I BE YOUR TENNIS BALL?, to WIMBLEDON champ Williams.

After sneakily revealing that the sports star is dating TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS SUPERBOWL winner KEYSHAWN JOHNSON, funnyman Foxx sang, "Can I be your tennis ball/You can smack me up against the wall," and, "Some men want to be J.LO's thong/BEYONCE and JAY-Z ain't that wrong/I'm tired of that ASHANTI song."
