THE LIBERTINES - BARAT PLAYS GIG WITH NEW BAND

THE LIBERTINES frontman CARL BARAT has formed a supergroup with members of PRIMAL SCREAM, THE CHARLATANS and RAZORLIGHT, fuelling speculation he is preparing to disband The Libertines.

THE CHAVS feature Barat, Primal Scream keyboardist MARTIN DUFFY, The Charlatans singer TIM BURGESS and Razorlight drummer ANDY BURROWS. They played their first gig at the TAP AND TIN in Chatham, London, last week (ends10DEC04).

The newly-formed band played a mixture of Burgess and Libertines songs and a cover of Christmas hit FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK.

Barat recently declared his intention for The Libertines to take a break for the "foreseeable future", while troubled singer PETE DOHERTY has quit the group for good to concentrate on his new musical project BABYSHAMBLES.
