DIRTY PRETTY THINGS frontman CARL BARAT insists he had no choice but to form a new band following PETE DOHERTY'S estrangement from THE LIBERTINES. The singer was convinced the group would flop without charismatic co-frontman Doherty, and started planning a new project when the erratic star began to lose interest. He says, "(I realised I couldn't carry on with The Libertines) when I realised Peter wasn't coming back in a hurry and he was too busy with BABYSHAMBLES. I couldn't carry on with the band without him. "Forming a new band was all I could do really. It was something that gradually happened as soon as Pete stopped turning up for gigs."
