ROBOCOP - BACHELOR WELLER TO WED ON HIS BIRTHDAY

ROBOCOP star PETER WELLER is to wed on his upcoming 59th birthday after his longtime girlfriend took up his challenge to propose to him. The actor, who recently starred in fast-paced TV drama 24, will reportedly exchange vows with girlfriend SHERI STOWE in Positano, Italy, where they have a home. The wedding, on 24 June (06), will be Weller's first - and friends insist he would never have thought of marriage if Stowe hadn't proposed to him over a romantic dinner last summer (05). A pal, who will be among the 270 guests expected to attend the ceremony at the Santa Maria Assunta church, tells American tabloid the National Enquirer, "Peter prompted her to do it (propose) by jokingly blurting out, 'If you want to marry me then why don't you ask me?'"
