TADANOBU ASANO - ASANO KEEN TO MEET HIS GRANDFATHER FOR THE FIRST TIME

Japanese movie superstar TADANOBU ASANO (corr) is on the hunt for his American Indian grandfather now he's becoming a star in America.

The MABOROSI star hopes interviews he gives to US publications will help him locate the grandfather he has never known.

He says, "My grandmother met my grandfather when he came to Japan from America during the war. They had a little girl - my mother - but when my mom was about five, her father went back to the States, and she hasn't heard from him since.

"Once I made an attempt to find him but failed. If it's possible, I would like to meet him."
