Canadian rockers ARCADE FIRE insist their fans are too smart to believe the media hype which has blown up around the music scene in Montreal since they found fame.
Frontman WIN BUTLER sees similarities in Montreal to the musical explosions in Seattle, Washington, following the success of NIRVANA and Detroit, Michigan, after THE WHITE STRIPES broke through.
But Butler is convinced Arcade Fire's international acclaim will not fool his sassy fans into believing what the story-hungry media creates on the back of their success.
Butler says, "Montreal's a pretty hard-a** town. The kids are suspicious about any hype about a scene.
"But it's true that record labels are behaving there now like they did in Detroit a while back, 'Oh The White Stripes are really good - let's sign THE VON BONDIES.'"
