Former FRIENDS star JENNIFER ANISTON is returning to the studio once again for her update of THE GRADUATE, after a new director was found for the project.

Veteran movie maker ROB REINER is stepping in to replace TED GRIFFIN on the project, which was shut down after one week of shooting.

Griffin actually penned the romantic comedy, about a young woman, played by Aniston, who finds out her grandmother, played by SHIRLEY MacLAINE, was the basis for the famous MRS ROBINSON character from the 1967 original film.

According to one source, Griffin came under fire for not spending enough time with the cast, which also includes MARK RUFFALO, MENA SUVARI and KEVIN COSTNER. Another source reportedly said lighting of the actresses was also an issue.
