JENNIFER ANISTON - ANISTON WAS TOO AMBITIOUS FOR DONOVAN

FRIENDS star JENNIFER ANISTON was too high-maintenance and ambitious for her ex-fiance TATE DONOVAN.

Donovan dated the actress, who is now married to BRAD PITT, between 1995 and 1998 and admits the pair were totally different people.

He says, "She likes top-notch hotels and luxury, and I like bed and breakfasts and riding my bike.

"That's the most shallow version of it, but it's indicative of our personalities."

Donovan, who also dated SANDRA BULLOCK in the 1990s, tells America's IN TOUCH magazine that the break-up was "really, really painful, but it wasn't working. We had to do it."

He reveals the pair were close to splitting when he had a guest slot on Friends in 1997.

He adds, "We were fighting. We were already breaking up. Our split didn't happen suddenly."

The lovelorn actor has been struggling to find romance ever since he split from Aniston - and even went to a high school reunion in the hope of finding true love.

He explains, "I was hoping to rekindle a romance, but all the women there were married with children."
