DAVID HESTERBEY, the man accused of breaking into JENNIFER ANISTON's rented Malibu home, has pleaded innocent to burglary and other charges.
The 48-year-old Californian was arrested on suspicion of trespassing last week (25AUG05) after he entered the beachfront house through an unlocked door, reportedly searching for the former FRIENDS star.
The 36-year-old actress was travelling back from Chicago, where she is filming THE BREAK-UP, when the incident happened.
Hesterbey pleaded not guilty to charges of first degree burglary and petty theft, and is being held in custody with bail set at $70,000 (GBP40,000).
According to Los Angeles County District Attorney JANE ROBINSON, the petty theft charge was due to Hesterbey allegedly taking a cab from Santa Barbara to Malibu, but refusing to pay the driver.
A restraining order has been issued against him after Aniston filed a petition - the hearing date for the order has been set for 14 September (05).
Meanwhile, a pre-trial hearing for the burglary and petty charges is scheduled for 7 September (05).
Hesterbey faces up to six years behind bars if convicted.
