BLUR star DAMON ALBARN is terrified this week's (begs1NOV05) gigs with virtual supergroup GORILLAZ may be too much of a logistical nightmare to pull off.

DE LA SOUL, ROOTS MANUVA, HAPPY MONDAYS star SHAUN RYDER and Albarn himself will be among the acts recreating tracks from Gorillaz's multi-platinum second album DEMON DAYS at Manchester, England's Opera House for five sell-out nights.

The much anticipated shows will see the band attempt to recreate the animated characters in 3-D live on stage, as well as featuring a host of up to 80 guest performers.

Albarn says, "The children's choir is 30, the gospel choir is 20, 15 strings, the guests, and then a core band of seven. You're not going to be able to see (the core band) on stage, the whole thing would be pointless to do as a conventional concert.

"We're doing something that has never been done before where we're getting 3-D animation on stage, with people, so we're in the middle of a technical, logistical nightmare with that.

"And it might, or might not work. If it works it's going to be very magic."
