R+B singer AKON has notched up a second week at the top of the British singles chart with his smash hit LONELY.

The US rapper fought off competition from GORILLAZ track FEEL GOOD INC, which jumped from number 20 to second place.

The third biggest selling song of the week was TONY CHRISTIE's (IS THIS THE WAY TO AMARILLO) featuring comedian PETER KAY.

THE GAME FT 50 CENT's HATE IT OR LEAVE IT is a new entry at number four, while SNOOP DOGG's collaboration with JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE and CHARLIE WILSON, SIGNS, drops two places to number five.

STEVE BROOKSTEIN, the winner of reality TV show THE X FACTOR, has jumped straight to the top of the British album chart with his debut disc HEART + SOUL, knocking Akon's TROUBLE down to number two.

BASEMENT JAXX compilation THE SINGLES falls a place to number three.
