R+B singer AKON has ended crooner TONY CHRISTIE's seven-week reign atop the British singles chart.

And the American star, whose new entry LONELY was unveiled as the country's biggest selling song of the week yesterday (08MAY05), had an extra reason to celebrate - his LP TROUBLE reclaimed the number one position in the album chart.

Elsewhere in the singles chart, EMINEM's new tune MOCKINGBIRD just crept into the top five at four, while WEEZER's latest offering BEVERLY HILLS landed in ninth place.

Meanwhile, NINE INCH NAILS' comeback disc WITH TEETH entered the album chart at number three, followed by ROBERT PLANT's new LP MIGHTY REARRANGER, and CREAM's greatest hits collection I FEEL FREE - ULTIMATE CREAM.
