RICHARD HARRIS - ACTOR HARRIS WAS NO BARMAN

NEWS BY ARTIST ALPHABETICALLY

Hedonistic actor RICHARD HARRIS proved to be an over-generous bar man when he briefly worked behind a plush New York bar.

The late HARRY POTTER star, famed for his wild lifestyle and heavy drinking, offered to help out at his friend MALACHY McCOURT's Manhattan bar, but quickly became popular with customers for failing to charge for drinks and giving away numerous bottles of expensive champagne.

Authors GARY STROMBERG and JANE MERRILL's new book THE HARDER THEY FALL, about celebrity drink and drug addictions - explains that Harris finally gave McCourt an envelope, saying: "Inside is a cheque to cover everything I have given away during those weeks."
