The man behind the shooting tragedy that left BRANDON LEE dead on the set of THE CROW has been forced to relive the moment he pulled the trigger in a new role.
Actor MICHAEL MASSEE, who played FUNBOY in The Crow, didn't realise the prop gun on the set of the 1994 movie had been switched with a real one for his murder scene.
And now, in his latest role as a PHIL SPECTOR-esque record producer in TV show L.A. DRAGNET, he's forced to recall the Lee tragedy by uttering the line, "I didn't know the gun was loaded."
A set source says, "The script was written when Michael showed up. Everyone froze when they realised he would have to say what he said. He was a true professional."
The Dragnet episode, which aired on Saturday (25OCT03), focused on a pregnant wannabe actress who shot herself and her unborn baby after partying with the oddball record mogul, played by Massee.
The writers of the episode loosely based Massee's character on Spector, who was charged with murder earlier this year (03) after the body of his girlfriend LANA CLARKSON was found at his home.
