NEIL YOUNG - YOUNG MOURNS FATHER'S DEATH

Rocker NEIL YOUNG is mourning the death of his father SCOTT, who died on Sunday (12JUN05) at his home in Kingston, Canada. He was 87.

The Canadian singer's dad was a popular author and journalist, who garnered international acclaim with his coverage of World War II, former US president JOHN F KENNEDY's assassination and North America's major sporting events.

Scott's 1984 book NEIL AND ME was the most successful of his 45 tomes, and famously revealed his son's musical ambitions were sparked in 1958, when his father gave him a ukulele.

The late writer leaves behind seven children and step-children.
