TONE LOC - YOUNG MC SUES PUBLISHER OVER TONE LOC TRACKS

Rapper YOUNG MC has filed a lawsuit against music publishing company Varry White Music, Inc, claiming bosses there owe him royalties for TONE LOC hits he wrote. The rap pioneer, real name MARVIN YOUNG, claims he penned hits like WILD THING and FUNKY COLD MEDINA - and now he wants cash he claims has been held back. Young filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging he entered into an agreement with VARRY WHITE in 1988, asking the publishing company to collect and credit monies due to him. But now Young claims White's company breached its duties by failing to carry out the agreement. The rapper also alleges the company failed and refused to supply an auditor with requested documentation for the songs. Young MC is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.
