PHANTOM OF THE OPERA - WILSON SUFFERED DURING FILM TABLE TORTURE SCENES
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA star PATRICK WILSON suffered for his art during torture scenes in a controversial new film - he blacked out while trying to pull a table across a kitchen. In HARD CANDY, the actor plays a pervert who befriends a 14-year-old girl on the internet and arranges a meeting at his home, only to have the teenager turn out to be more than he bargained for. And Wilson admits he took torture scenes in the film, during which he was tied to a table, too far at times. He explains, "I just said, 'Tie me down and put the phone over there and let me see if I can move the table to get to the phone. That table was about 600 or 700 pounds! "I wasn't going to be a chicken about what the physical demands were. I didn't spend time on how to rig the ropes (tying me down) so they wouldn't hurt me. I didn't make the table lighter or ask them to oil the wheels so I could move it. "You see my hands turn blue, which I didn't even know that was happening. I remember blacking out a couple of times. There was a real freedom in knowing that the role would take its toll on me emotionally and physically but tomorrow it's over."
