CHRISTOPHER REEVE - WIFE'S ANGUISH AT REEVE'S DEATH

CHRISTOPHER REEVE's widow DANA REEVE remains haunted by the fact she wasn't present for the SUPERMAN star's final hours.

The glamorous 43-year-old was working far away from her husband when his condition rapidly deteriorated, but thanks to a private jet provided by Hollywood star and close friend ROBIN WILLIAMS, she arrived at his hospital bedside just moments before his death on 9 October (04).

However, she'll always regret not being by the quadriplegic actor's bedside in the hours leading up to his death.

She recalls, "He was surrounded by doctors who were doing compression son his chest to keep him alive. But he never regained consciousness.

"I just started screaming, 'I love you' and 'I'm sorry I wasn't here.' I then turned and said, 'Thank you, thank you,' to the doctors who were basically keeping his body living so that WILL (their son) and I could say goodbye."

Reeve was 52 when he passed away.
