BATMAN - WEST'S DRUNKEN POPE DISASTER
Worried residents dialled the emergency services after witnessing 200ft flames from a huge explosion at the now defunct Battersea Power Station. But the explosive scenes were actually part of the new Batman....
Original BATMAN star ADAM WEST will always remember the time he met POPE PAUL VI in the late 1960s, because he had the hangover from hell.
The former party animal was honoured to be invited to meet the holy leader, but thanks to a wild night out the previous evening, the actor was convinced he would vomit over the distinguished pontiff when it was his turn to kiss his hand.
He recalls, "I woke up with worst hangover of my life.
"I made it to the Vatican, and I was at the back of his line of people who each knelt down to kiss his ring.
"Then it was my turn. I realised that, if I knelt down, I wouldn't be able to get up again. I was so hung over."
