RAQUEL WELCH - WELCH INITIALLY REJECTED ONE MILLION YEARS BC

Actress RAQUEL WELCH initially rejected the chance to star in the 1966 classic ONE MILLION YEARS BC - because she couldn't believe a movie about dinosaurs would be a hit.

Welch, 63, eventually took director DON CHAFFEY's offer, which ended up launching her career.

She recalls, "I said, 'Oh, a dinosaur movie - I don't really want to do a dinosaur movie.'

"I had no idea it was a remake of a classic starring VICTOR MATURE and CARO LANDIS, and when he told me, that really took the wind out of my sails.

"It turned out to be a huge success, and if it had not been for that movie, I don't think there would be a Raquel Welch in Hollywood."
