WESTLIFE - WE BROKE THE RULES, ADMITS WESTLIFE'S SHANE

Irish pop heart throbs WESTLIFE defied record bosses and refused to lie to fans about their girlfriends.

Singer SHANE FILAN, who married childhood sweetheart GILLIAN WALSH last December (03), insists the band refused to buckle to pressure from their management - even if it meant breaking the hearts of die hard female fans.

Filan, 24, admits, "We've always broken the rules in Westlife - if we had girlfriends, we said we did, we never lied. If we wanted to get married, we didn't hide it from the fans. I think it's very important we did that."

The singer adds of his new bride, "Gillian is my solid rock. Whatever has happened, whatever may be getting me down, she's always been there for me. I chose to live the one-girl life and that's kept me sane."
