PINK FLOYD - WATERS STILL STUNNED BY CREAM + HENDRIX BARGAIN GIG
PINK FLOYD star ROGER WATERS is convinced he landed the deal of his life when he saw JIMI HENDRIX's first live appearance in England - as a guest of CREAM - for less than $2 (GBP1).
The rocker still shudders when he thinks of the show at the Regent Street Polytechnic School of Architecture, where he was a student, in the mid-1960s.
He recalls, "Two thirds of the way through their set, one of them (Cream) said, 'We'd like to invite a friend of ours from America out onstage.' It was Jimi Hendrix, and that was the first night he played in England.
"He came on and did all that now-famous stuff, like playing with his teeth. That ticket cost me about a pound or so. It might have been the best purchase I ever made."
Meanwhile, Waters can't wait to see the reformed Cream during their upcoming stint at London's Royal Albert Hall next month (MAY05).
He adds, "I expect my eyes to be popping out of my head again when I see them."
