The film, entitled GIN AND TONIC, will look go back to the early life of the Leicester, England-born actor and writer, who starred in and created the British comedy classics.
Chapman hit the headlines during his brief life after announcing he was gay, struggling with alcohol addiction and then dying from spinal and throat cancer when he was just 48.
HIPPOFILMS president DAVID BRENNER says the company will be holding auditions in London, Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo to find the perfect Chapman and also actors to play Python stars JOHN CLEESE, TERRY GILLIAM, ERIC IDLE, MICHAEL PALIN and TERRY JONES.
Brenner explains, "We wanted to cast the net as wide as possible. Our goal is to find six incredibly talented performers who embody that 'Pythonic' brilliance and lunacy. We want these auditions to be fun affairs so we're giving prices for the most absurd costumes."
