JOHN PEEL - VETERAN DJ PEEL DIES
Legendary radio dj JOHN PEEL has died while on holiday in Peru. He was 65.
BBC mainstay Peel suffered a heart attack while on a working vacation in Cuzco with his wife SHEILA.
He was the BBC's longest-serving radio presenter, and began his career with the broadcaster in the mid-1960s.
Hugely respected, Peel was internationally renowned for encouraging up-and-coming rock acts, and broadcasting sessions of their live performances.
Among the thousands of bands to appear on his programme were NIRVANA, THE WHITE STRIPES, THE CURE, NEW ORDER and grunge pioneers MUDHONEY.
