VAUGHN PREPARING TO TAKE ON FANATIC FANS

British film-maker MATTHEW VAUGHN has no fears about upsetting obsessive comic book fans when he begins work on new project X-MEN 3 - because he wants to make the definitive superhero movie.

Vaughn, who is married to German supermodel CLAUDIA SCHIFFER, grabbed Hollywood's attention with his masterful direction of British gangster film LAYER CAKE, and he isn't prepared to compromise his approach when he works with leading actors including HUGH JACKMAN, HALLE BERRY and PATRICK STEWART.

He tells EMPIRE magazine, "I'm all for fans being wary of me; they've got the right to be. I'm just going to make the film as good as I can.

"I know that there's going to be elements I'm going to be bringing to it that will worry the fans in the sense that I want to make a movie that stands up in twenty, thirty years time basically."
