LUTHER VANDROSS - VANDROSS RECOVERING FROM STROKE

LATEST: Soul legend LUTHER VANDROSS is showing signs of recovery following his stroke last week (16APR03).

The 52-year-old GRAMMY-winner collapsed at his home in New York last Wednesday and was rushed to the city's WEILL-CORNELL MEDICAL COLLEGE.

A statement released earlier this week warned Vandross' condition was "critical but stable" - but the singer's spokeswoman LOIS NAJARIAN says he has shown his first positive signs of recovery.

She says, "The neurologists just feel that he's been extremely responsive over the course of the last day."
