JANE FONDA - VAGINA MONOLOGUES MAKE FONDA A BETTER FEMINIST

JANE FONDA has joined American writer and feminist EVE ENSLER to make a harrowing new documentary about abused women after being inspired by the author's THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES.
Fonda was asked to take part in the feminist play during a recent run in Atlanta, Georgia, and was very nervous at first about talking about female sex organs in public - but agreeing to do it turned her into a better feminist.
Now, she's great friends with Ensler and the two agreed to talk to abused women for upcoming TV documentary UNTIL THE VIOLENCE STOPS.
Fonda says, "Eve and her play had a very profound influence on me. When I saw Eve do the play three years ago in New York I think the best way to describe it is my feminism moved from my head to my body and changed me forever.
"When a friend of mine first asked me to perform The Vagina Monologues in Atlanta I started reading it and I said, 'I don't think so. More controversy I don't need.'
"I found it hard to say vagina out loud, but more important than saying the word is realising to what extent all of us, or at least most women, experience their power moving outside of themselves in an effort to please or because they've been beaten or cut or mutilated.
"The play and the impact it's having around the world moves women and vagina-friendly men into a new kind of space."
