LORD OF THE RINGS - TOLKIEN'S HOME ADDED TO HERITAGE LIST
The Oxford, England, home where JRR TOLKIEN wrote THE HOBBIT and LORD OF THE RINGS is to feature on a new British historical building list.
The eight bedroom Northmoor Road house was home to the author while he penned the great works in the 1930s and 1940s, while he taught at Oxford University.
The new listing will ensure that the home remains unchanged. British Heritage Minister ANDREW McINTOSH says, "The house is largely unaltered since Tolkien's time, with original doors, door handles and ornate window catches.
"As such, it is an important part of our national heritage, and worthy of the additional layer of protection that listing brings."
