NICK CAVE - SUITS ENHANCE CAVE'S 'SERIOUS' MUSIC

Moody singer NICK CAVE refuses to wear anything other than a suit when he's writing, recording or performing his music - because it would be an insult to his high quality compositions.

The RED RIGHT HAND Australian is always photographed wearing the latest designer wares, but he insists he doesn't simply wear them for the benefit of his public image - they actually help him retain a "serious" approach to his career.

He says, "I would feel extremely uncomfortable sitting at a piano in a pair of trainers. I couldn't bring myself to demean myself or my material. My muse wouldn't bear it.

"I've always worn suits as soon as I could afford to have them made. They're only GBP600 but I feel serious. I feel the part."
