OLYMPIA DUKAKIS - STRANGE FRUIT GETS OLYMPIA HIGH

Actress OLYMPIA DUKAKIS found herself "high as a kite" after sampling some strange fruit on the rainforest set of new movie THE INTENDED.
The OSCAR winner lived among the Ebod, the indigenous people of Malaysia, while she shot the new film with British actress JANET McTEER in a rainforest close to the border of Borneo.
And, keen to please her hosts, the actress sampled all the food and drink they offered her - with some strange consequences.
She says, "We had to wear hard hats because these fruits they called 'the king of coconuts' literally fell from the trees.
"Every time one would fall the Ebod would run to catch it. One day, I was standing next to one guy and he's opening it up and he's eating it. He looked at me and offered me a piece.
"I took a bite and it was OK. There were three kinds of whitish pulpy meaty pods.
"A couple of days later another one fell and this guy came to me with it and now the pods were kind of yellowish. He was very excited and said, 'Try this.' I ate almost a whole pod.
"About 30 minutes later I'm as high as a kite. I was feeling very high, no pain, just gleeful and happy running around the rainforest. I now know why they were called the king of the coconuts. They were considered a sacred fruit because they had these state-altering qualities."
