A guitar signed by such rockers as SIR MICK JAGGER, KEITH RICHARDS and ERIC CLAPTON has been sold at auction for a record $2.8 million (GBP1.6 million) in aid of the Indian Ocean tsunami victims.

The idea to sell off the white Fender Stratocaster came from BRYAN ADAMS, who was the guest of honour at Doha, Qatar's inaugural Reach Out To Asia charity fundraiser, which boasted former US President BILL CLINTON and SIR RICHARD BRANSON among its guests.

The guitar, purchased by a mystery buyer, was also signed by BRIAN MAY, JEFF BECK, PETE TOWNSHEND and LIAM and NOEL GALLAGHER.
