DANNY DeVITO and his wife RHEA PERLMAN, NIA VARDALOS and DIANE LANE were among the celebrities who got the New Year's Eve celebrations off to an early start with a peace vigil on Saturday (31DEC05).
The stars lit candles at noon as part of a Resolution For Peace vigil in Santa Monica, California.
The celebrities, who also included MARIA BELLO, BLAIR UNDERWOOD and JOSH BROLIN, signed a petition for a peaceful end to world strife.
Vigil organiser TOM ORTENBERG says, "It was a beautiful get together of people putting their holiday plans on hold and turning out in bad weather to make their voices heard."
