DAMON ALBARN - STARS BOARD LONDON EYE IN AID OF FAIR TRADE
A galaxy of stars, including DAMON ALBARN and BETH ORTON hit the London Eye attraction yesterday (21JUN05) to raise awareness of fair trade.
SKUNK ANANSIE singer SKIN joined the BLUR frontman and Orton each took a pod on the giant Ferris wheel by the River Thames in a sponsored performance entitled FLIGHT 5065, after fair trade importers CAFE DIRECT's best-selling coffee.
The individual shows, varying from African drumming to stand-up comedy, were played out to members of the public.
And the revellers, who paid out $38 (GBP21) per ticket, were unaware which artist they would see until they boarded their pod.
